Tablet suddenly won’t work JUST BECAUSE THE PEN FELL?

The tablet pen falls on the floor gently and suddenly the entire fucking tablet won’t work. Its a "Bamboo Fun" tablet, for anyone who cares. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times, downloaded a new driver, and restarted the computer numerous times. At first only the pen didn’t work but now the mouse that comes with the tablet won’t work either. And the little bastard tablet knows when one of them touches the surface because the light on it lights up, but it still won’t let them WORK.
What is wrong?! Is it honestly that delicate of a piece of shit?
Note I’m incredibly angry, so sorry about the cursing.
Yeah, and the stupid thing is, it was working literally 2 seconds before the pen fell on the floor. So if anything, its probably the tablet’s fault, or at least the pen’s fault. I’ve only had this tablet for 17 days so I suppose I should just return it.

Don’t take the tablet apart! That will void the return policy. If you’ve only had it 17 days and it’s stopped working, I’m certain Wacom or the store where you bought it would replace it.

I had a similar problem with a Wacom Graphire, but I just replaced it because it was old and rickety anyway. I don’t know about the tablet itself, but the pen is quite delicate – the problem with mine was that the tip had moved just slightly and so it was over-sensitive and thought the pen was clicking all the time. I imagine the opposite is quite possible as well.

If you’ve tried everything obvious I can only suggest that you return it for a replacement – you may have a faulty unit.

So is it time to get an attorney?

I live in a condo building that has rules, regs and actual laws we must follow. There are NO exceptions to this unless it is in writing and documented.

Saying this about a year ago one of our homeowners put up a bamboo fence on her second floor balcony and it’s not authorized, docemented or approved anywhere in our docs. I was told by the lady that the old president of the board last year told her not to worry about it. Nobody would care.

1.) her unit faces a neighboring hotel. She claims the bamboo is there for privacy. She also claims it’s there for security as anyone from the second floor can climb over the railing from the cat walk. ( it’s flimsy material and really could n’t act as a barrier.

Our current board has myself and the old president and the new people on it. Part of our jobs is doing monthly walk throughs and this fence issue came up a a rule infraction.

2out of 3 board members said not to inforce the rules to this unit due to the hotel thing.
I was a bit suprised because upon investigation of all or our governing documents nothing giving this fence exemption from anything has been found., anywhere.

I asked if I could get board approval on the same fence and told no by the board majority.

I have my unit facing on the backside of the building and have my neighboring apartments that can look right into my unit too. The privacy isl lacking an would also like the same exact fencing ot be granted to me. Wen I asked why I got a "no"

One member said I had a vendetta against this woman, one said that we have always allowed partitians on the side of the property for years.. ( no docs anywhere )

We also have a rule adopted by the HOA in 2004 that clearly states the only approved fencing on this balcony is a fine mesh wire that can act as a barrier as our metal bars are 10 inches apart and could be dangerous to pets… that is the ONLY approved item. My atty wrote a letter reqesting the same fence 4 me.
The atty is a friend of mine who is doing this for a "freebie" it’s just a letter asking for the same accomodations.. no threats of being sued at this time, just reinforcing that I mean business.

You’ve just stated the exact reason why I don’t like condos.

I would drop it and move on.

green remodeling?????????????

i have noticed on a lot of home remodeling shows, diy, hgt etc. that a lot of people are saying things like, we want a green house, we care about the environment, we want a smaller carbon foot print and every other green key phrase you can think of. so they buy environmentally friendly products……like bamboo flooring, ecofriendy cabinets and counter tops, enviro tiles etc…..but they rip out the old and throw it in the trash, where it is carted off to a landfill….wouldn’t the better option be to refinish existing floors instead of replacing them? rehabbing existing cabinet by putting on a new finish and new hardware, and things like that? how does replacing something that is already there, with something else lower your carbon foot print? the bamboo still had to be cut down, it still had to take a large amount of energy to cut them to size, they still had to have tons of chemicals applied to them, they still had to be shipped thousands of miles, and the old still ended up in a trash heap. if you replace something that is not consuming energy with something that is considered environmentally friendly, then aren’t you still increasing your carbon footprint? i mean you should upgrade your old appliances to efficient appliances, but recycle the old instead of throw them away. but appliances consume energy, so by replacing them with efficient models, you would lower your energy consumption, but floors and cabinets do not use energy.

You are exactly correct. You need to watch the story of stuff it examines consumption from extraction to disposal. The best thing we can do to help the planet is to buy less stuff.

I am asking for the same fence.. …. since the board said this lady is allowed it.

That’s why HOA’s are so lame, no one needs anybody telling them how to live or what they should be able to do to their house. If you really want a blind for privacy, go for it, and leave this poor woman alone to live her life, it’s not like she is disturbing anyone. The human element should take precedence here.

green remodeling…isnt it worse for the environment?

i have noticed on a lot of home remodeling shows, diy, hgt etc. that a lot of people are saying things like, we want a green house, we care about the environment, we want a smaller carbon foot print and every other green key phrase you can think of. so they buy environmentally friendly products……like bamboo flooring, ecofriendy cabinets and counter tops, enviro tiles etc…..but they rip out the old and throw it in the trash, where it is carted off to a landfill….wouldn’t the better option be to refinish existing floors instead of replacing them? rehabbing existing cabinet by putting on a new finish and new hardware, and things like that? how does replacing something that is already there, with something else lower your carbon foot print? the bamboo still had to be cut down, it still had to take a large amount of energy to cut them to size, they still had to have tons of chemicals applied to them, they still had to be shipped thousands of miles, and the old still ended up in a trash heap. if you replace something that is not consuming energy with something that is considered environmentally friendly, then aren’t you still increasing your carbon footprint? i mean you should upgrade your old appliances to efficient appliances, but recycle the old instead of throw them away. but appliances consume energy, so by replacing them with efficient models, you would lower your energy consumption, but floors and cabinets do not use energy.

You’ve definitely hit upon a disturbing discrepancy in the public’s mentality.

Unfortunately, there are many people who like to justify their rampant consumerism by simply purchasing green products. That’s not to say green products are a bad thing, it’s just that they shouldn’t be an end in as themselves. The idea that ripping out perfectly good floor to replace it with something "green" is at best naive and at worst, malicious.

Of course, there are those that actually think about consequences and realize that if it is the case that they have to replace their floor anyways, they might as well choose a green option. That’s when people truly are going green.

I will add, however, that purchasing a more efficient product to replace another product (even if it hasn’t finished its lifespan) is almost always a "good" thing. This is especially true in appliances. Even if your 10 year old fridge hasn’t reached the end of its 25 year lifespan, you’re doing a good thing to buy a new one. The reason being that the increase in fridge efficiency in the past ten years has been so rapid that it offsets even the environmental cost of producing a new fridge.

As to kep’s idea that we shouldn’t build windmills because they take resources to build, that’s just stupid. Yes, we should look at the WHOLE costs of something before we build/purchase it. However, with 2 seconds of thought you will realize that a lot of coal power plants are old and being decommissioned. Replacing them with new windmills is a hell of a lot better than replacing them with new coal plants.

Jehovah Witness, What do you..?

think?
A sister sent me this through email.

THE FERN AND THE BAMBOO

One day I decided to quit … I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with JEHOVAH.

"JEHOVAH,” I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me… "Look around", He said. "Do you see the FERN and the BAMBOO?"
"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the FERN and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.”

“Yet nothing came from the BAMBOO seed. But I did not quit on the BAMBOO.”
“In the second year the FERN grew more vibrant and plentiful.
“And again, nothing came from the BAMBOO seed. But I did not quit on the BAMBOO.”

He said, "In the third year, there was still nothing from the BAMBOO seed. But I would not quit.0

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the BAMBOO seed. But I would not quit.”
He said, "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the FERN it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just six months later the BAMBOO rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.”
“I would not give any of my creations a20challenge it could not handle."

JEHOVAH said to me, "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don’t compare yourself to others.”

He said, "The BAMBOO had a different purpose than the FERN, yet, they both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come," Jehovah said to me. "You will rise high!"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the BAMBOO rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can help you see that JEHOVAH will never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you HAPPINESS. Bad days give you EXPERIENCES. Both are essential to life.
Keep going … Happiness keeps you SWEET. Trials keep you STRONG. Sorrows keep you HUMAN. Failures keep you HUMBLE. Success keeps you GLOWING.

But only JEHOVAH keeps you GOING!

************ *********
"A woman’s heart should be so hidden in JEHOVAH that a man has to seek HIM first to find her."

Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8 ) Mary F.

That really is a wonderful story! Beautiful! Very encouraging! We all spend so much time here witnessing to others it’s easy to forget about building each other up. When we’re out in service we teach others but we also strengthen one another. It’s good to do the same thing here! We all need all the encouragement we can get! Keep up the good work brothers and sisters! Jehoavh will NEVER forget us!

normal wear and tear? Help?

I have bamboo floors in my apartment. My landlord allowed me to have two cats and did not notify me that bamboo floor are easily scratched by animals and high heels and pretty much anything that moves or drops on the floor. The landlord gave me no care information about my new apartment at all and this being my first time renting I didn’t know better. I have lived hear a year and am moving and fearful that my landlord will try to keep my damage deposit. This is a "green" apartment with many materials I am not used to with no instruction on how to care for them. I have counters that need to be waxed to prevent water stains… NO ONE told me this so there is a ring on the counter that I told my landlord about and she then said I needed to wax my counters.

Lastly, I have unwaxed (no shine) linoleum blue floors in my bathroom that have a yellowish stain from a rubber mat (now that I look on the internet I see that this is a chemical reaction and you should not have rubber mats on the floor) Again, no one told me. My landlord not only saw the rubber mat but suggested it because of my cats litter box (she also has cats).

I’m just wondering if she will be able to charge me for these things. She has 1000 damage deposit from me. I’m fearful because they are in a financial bind that they will try to charge me for even more.
is there a certain amount of time they have to get work fixed and report costs with receipts to me in order to keep the damage deposit or request more money… or do they just have to have quotes?

It’s not your landlord’s responsibility to inform you how to care for the apartment and the fixtures. Regardless of what is in your apartment, you are required to exercise reasonable care and caution, and maintain the apartment in a reasonable fashion.
You are not, however, required to use extraordinary care and caution. If the landlord installed features that require special care, are unusually fragile, etc. you are not required to go out of your way or incur added expense to care for those things. The standard in determining "normal wear and tear" will be whether or not the condition you left those items in is the same as the condition that the average person leaves those things in.

UPDATE: Yes, they have a time limit on returning the balance of your deposit. This varies from state to state. In California they have 21 days from the date that you move out. They must also provide an itemized list of deductions from your security deposit.

What are the effects of noise on an infants cognitive development and general well-being?

We are in the process of opening a licensed childcare in WA state and have been instructed to construct a sound barrier between the infant and toddler areas of our room. We have carpeting on the walls and floor as well as padded structures 32" high between the separate areas. We also hung Faux bamboo shades between the areas to cut down on the visual stimulation and sound carrying. Our health specialist has said she still will not pass our license to service infants and toddlers. We do not want to construct a wall as we want the infant and toddler caregivers to work as a team and the infants and toddlers to bond with both caregivers for continuity of care and routine. Any documentation about how this can affect the well-being of the infants would be extremely helpful in solving this dilemna.

I’ve worked in childcare for ages, and I can’t really recall the infant areas being sound proof. However, I do recall that they were an enclosed area, capable of having a door be shut (but not always shut). In this case, I think it was to allow some quiet in the room because infants sleep more than toddlers or older kids. It also gives the infants the ability to focus in on the voices of their caregivers, instead of the random chaotic noise that the rest of the facility had.

That’s the best educated guess I can give you.
