Jehovah Witness, What do you..?

think?
A sister sent me this through email.

THE FERN AND THE BAMBOO

One day I decided to quit … I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with JEHOVAH.

"JEHOVAH,” I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me… "Look around", He said. "Do you see the FERN and the BAMBOO?"
"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the FERN and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.”

“Yet nothing came from the BAMBOO seed. But I did not quit on the BAMBOO.”
“In the second year the FERN grew more vibrant and plentiful.
“And again, nothing came from the BAMBOO seed. But I did not quit on the BAMBOO.”

He said, "In the third year, there was still nothing from the BAMBOO seed. But I would not quit.0

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the BAMBOO seed. But I would not quit.”
He said, "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the FERN it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just six months later the BAMBOO rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.”
“I would not give any of my creations a20challenge it could not handle."

JEHOVAH said to me, "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don’t compare yourself to others.”

He said, "The BAMBOO had a different purpose than the FERN, yet, they both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come," Jehovah said to me. "You will rise high!"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the BAMBOO rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can help you see that JEHOVAH will never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you HAPPINESS. Bad days give you EXPERIENCES. Both are essential to life.
Keep going … Happiness keeps you SWEET. Trials keep you STRONG. Sorrows keep you HUMAN. Failures keep you HUMBLE. Success keeps you GLOWING.

But only JEHOVAH keeps you GOING!

************ *********
"A woman’s heart should be so hidden in JEHOVAH that a man has to seek HIM first to find her."

Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8 ) Mary F.

That really is a wonderful story! Beautiful! Very encouraging! We all spend so much time here witnessing to others it’s easy to forget about building each other up. When we’re out in service we teach others but we also strengthen one another. It’s good to do the same thing here! We all need all the encouragement we can get! Keep up the good work brothers and sisters! Jehoavh will NEVER forget us!

Linoleum Tiles In The Home

When it comes to flooring today, we do not have to be limited to carpeting, even if we want the soft feel of carpet under our feet. New designs in carpet tiles allow us to have the look and feel of carpeting without expensive installation. You can have carpet tiles in many different designs and materials and you can suit any decorating scheme. New carpet tiles will give a brand new look to any room.

Before you decide upon the carpet tiles, make sure you understand the surface that they are going to be installed upon. There are various thicknesses in carpet tiles, and for interior portions of your home, you want OT have carpet tiles that have thickness and are cushioned. This will make them more comfortable as well as provide insulation. For an office, deck or a high traffic area, you may want to consider thinner tiles.

There are so many different styles of carpet tiles that you can choose to instill an outdoorsy, natural look with bamboo tiles, or you can put down terracotta tiles to give an earthen feel to the room.

Tiles can be used to make a room bright and lively, or you can choose a color and texture that is more subdued, if that is the effect you want to achieve. Carpet tiles can be made from many different materials. Foam, rubber, linoleum and vinyl are the best choices for children’s rooms, offices, recreation rooms or other areas that will get a lot of wear. The cost of tiles is determined by thickness and density, so it can range from as little as $1 per square foot to up to $40 per square foot.

Using carpet tiles will give you a distinct advantage over wall to wall carpeting. They are very easy to install without all of the hassle of moving all of the furniture out of the room. Carpet tiles are extremely durable, and will outlast most kinds of carpeting, especially in Goth traffic areas.

Carpet tiles allow you to be very creative. You can mix and match colors and styles, create borders of a different design, or create a focal point in the middle of the room. Unlike wall to wall carpeting, you can lift one section of the carpet if it is torn or stained, and replace it without worrying about the rest of the carpet.

Whatever your budget, whatever your decorating style, you will find carpet tiles to suit you. Because of the reasonable price of carpet tiles, you can experiment with different looks without spending a fortune. Of course, you still have to have a properly prepared surface to put your carpet tiles on.

Carpet tiles should be installed on a hard surface such as ceramic tile, cement or stone. Make sure the surface is clean and smooth, in order for the adhesive to adhere properly and have a smooth look in the room. Carpet tiles usually have cushion or padding already attached. This extends the life of the tile while it reduces cost.

Hardwood Flooring Basics to Beautify Your Home

With all of the many different types, styles and colors of flooring available today it can be a monumental task in choosing the right flooring for your home. Hardwood floors, laminate, vinyl, linoleum, bamboo, antique, prefinished, which one is right for you? Oak, maple, cherry and birch are popular types of hardwood flooring, but there are many others.

Cheap flooring or the wrong style or design of hard wood floor can clash with other home interior design features. But a well-chosen hardwood floor can accentuate and beautify almost any style or design of a home.

Carpeting has a few advantages over wood floors, the main one being softness when walked upon. But hardwood flooring can be accented with durable and beautiful rugs that have that same cushy feeling. So if it’s a soft comfy feel you’re after don’t think that hardwood flooring is not an option. It’s possible to combine the functionality of a carpet with the beauty, durability and shine of a hardwood floor.

Hard wood floors come in all different sizes and colors. And there are also many different types of wood grains that you have available to you. When deciding on the type of hardwood floor to install in your home you must first choose the color and type of wood. This is usually the most important consideration.

The color must be complimentary to the furniture, wall hangings, plants and other items that you intend to furnish your home with. But choosing a color of wood is not necessarily a straight forward and easy task. Different types of wood stain differently. Some wood flooring will stain darker than others, some lighter than others. So when choosing color you must consider the stain in combination with the type of wood floor you want. Do your homework and you will lessen the chance of installing a floor that has a different color and look than you expected.

Another major factor concerns functionality. A pine floor may look great, but pine is a soft wood that will dent very easily. This would certainly be a poor choice in a high-traffic area. When considering woods for flooring you want to install a floor that is long-lasting. Your flooring should last a lifetime and that means choosing a floor that will be durable, easy to keep clean and will continue to look new without a lot of labor on your part. If you are uncertain go with flooring that will be harder than you think is necessary. Hardness rankings according to the Janka scale can help you decide on which type of wood you need for the amount of traffic you expect to have.

The most popular styles of hardwood flooring are parquet, strip and plank. Parquet flooring is a series of wood flooring pieces that create a geometric design. Strip flooring is linear and is usually between 1 ½ inches to 3 ¼ inches in width. Strip flooring often gives the room the appearance of being larger than it actually is. Plank hardwood flooring is usually wider and is typically 3 to 6 inches in width. Wider planks may be used, but often have issues with moisture.

You must choose the style and size that you think looks most attractive. Take your time and view all styles, designs, sizes and colors of wood floors before making your selection. Once it’s installed it is not a cheap job to tear out and replace. It’s also a good idea to get different samples and lay them out in your home. Without actually seeing the floor next to your own furnishings and wall colors it’s near impossible to make a smart choice.

If you are interested in installing your own hardwood floor be sure you have enough knowledge and experience before attempting to do so. You must know what type of subflooring to install, whether it’s wood or concrete. You should learn about humidity and temperature and what affect they have on floors. To prevent warping it is important to keep your floors well-ventilated with regulated temperatures throughout the year. When the weather gets too cold it can cause the floor boards to separate. Before installing it yourself talk to some professionals in your area and find out what precautions you need to take that will help ensure a lifetime of satisfaction with your new wood flooring.

Bamboo Baskets In Japanese Decorating

My daughter’s first apartment was a real adventure. She and her dormitory roommate from college decided to move in together, even though neither of them had a lot of money. They had started in nice careers, but putting a deposit down on an apartment, buying basic furniture and paying off student loans used up a lot of their money. Using the decorating style known as “late basement/early attic”, they begged borrowed and stole some pieces but needed some unique decorating touches to make the apartment truly their own.

Their plan was to decorate the place and then invite all of the parents for a nice dinner and to view the results.

Well, their decorating efforts took about six weeks, but the day finally arrived and we were invited to dinner. I wanted to bring a nice house gift, and, knowing my daughter’s fondness for bamboo baskets, I filled one with soap, hand cream and small hand towels for her new bathroom. As soon as my daughter saw the basket in my hands, she started laughing. It was not until I stepped into her apartment that I realized what was so funny. There were bamboo baskets everywhere, since this is how they decided to have a unique and inexpensive decorating scheme. Bamboo baskets were placed around the room for various uses, there were bamboo place mats and the theme was carried to the flooring with grass mats.

The bedroom had an oriental theme, and large bamboo baskets formed the bases for her bedside tables. They were very sturdy and shaped like vases, and with a round glass on top, there were perfect to place a lamp, a clock and some books. Her closet organizing system was a series of bamboo baskets and a bamboo hamper.

I was very glad I brought a bamboo basket for the bathroom. Bamboo is a neutral color that goes in any room. My daughter said I gave her the idea to put some large baskets (to match the small one) on the floor of the bathroom to hold towels, since they had no linen closet to store towels.

I was very proud of how my daughter decorated her small apartment with a lot of taste and very little money. As she saves money to decorate, she can add on to these items and make it look even better. I’m happy she is having such a good time decorating her first real apartment and she is so proud to be doing it herself with money from her first big job.

We installed carbonized (golden color) bamboo laminate in this beautiful 2-Story Victorian home.
We did the staircase and the whole house (except kitchen and baths) in the laminte. The nice thing about this particular laminate is that it looks almost EXACTLY like real bamboo…but…wont scratch as easily and will be very easy to maintain.

normal wear and tear? Help?

I have bamboo floors in my apartment. My landlord allowed me to have two cats and did not notify me that bamboo floor are easily scratched by animals and high heels and pretty much anything that moves or drops on the floor. The landlord gave me no care information about my new apartment at all and this being my first time renting I didn’t know better. I have lived hear a year and am moving and fearful that my landlord will try to keep my damage deposit. This is a "green" apartment with many materials I am not used to with no instruction on how to care for them. I have counters that need to be waxed to prevent water stains… NO ONE told me this so there is a ring on the counter that I told my landlord about and she then said I needed to wax my counters.

Lastly, I have unwaxed (no shine) linoleum blue floors in my bathroom that have a yellowish stain from a rubber mat (now that I look on the internet I see that this is a chemical reaction and you should not have rubber mats on the floor) Again, no one told me. My landlord not only saw the rubber mat but suggested it because of my cats litter box (she also has cats).

I’m just wondering if she will be able to charge me for these things. She has 1000 damage deposit from me. I’m fearful because they are in a financial bind that they will try to charge me for even more.
is there a certain amount of time they have to get work fixed and report costs with receipts to me in order to keep the damage deposit or request more money… or do they just have to have quotes?

It’s not your landlord’s responsibility to inform you how to care for the apartment and the fixtures. Regardless of what is in your apartment, you are required to exercise reasonable care and caution, and maintain the apartment in a reasonable fashion.
You are not, however, required to use extraordinary care and caution. If the landlord installed features that require special care, are unusually fragile, etc. you are not required to go out of your way or incur added expense to care for those things. The standard in determining "normal wear and tear" will be whether or not the condition you left those items in is the same as the condition that the average person leaves those things in.

UPDATE: Yes, they have a time limit on returning the balance of your deposit. This varies from state to state. In California they have 21 days from the date that you move out. They must also provide an itemized list of deductions from your security deposit.
