The project qualified for LEED Gold Standard and included numerous interior Green features such as recycled glass bathroom countertops, LED lights that consume less energy than conventional light bulbs, bamboo flooring, low-maintenance ecological kitchen cabinetry and an environmentally friendly washer/dryer system that uses less water and energy. Other green features include 4 kw roof mounted photovoltaic array, windows and doors constructed with recycled glass and aluminum, soy based open cell expanding insulation and redwood siding reclaimed from old military barracks.

Bamboo flooring
I recently bought bamboo flooring, not laminate, it's 4 inches wide and 37 3/4 inches long. I've read of two methods for installing on concrete, either with a urethane glue, or floating type floor and gluing the joints as you assemble.
Which method is the best method? The room is about 350 sq ft, and about 200 sq ft of hallway. I would like to do this myself.
Glue down w/ a urethane glue..Special glue trowel for this.. Hope you have strong arm. It will test your arm strength..Cement must be very clean and dust free..Is this an engineered bamboo? Only an engineered flooring can be glued .. Full 3/4:" flooring needs to be nailed down. You can glue edges on only flooring made for this. And I m real sure it isn t available any more. Bamboo flooring
I am installing bamboo flooring in my house and I have a plywood subfloor. I was told I can use Redgard to waterproof before I install the bamboo flooring. I did some research and could not find anything on this. Is this true? Can I use redgard on the plywood before I install the bamboo flooring?
Red Guard is excellent for tiling. But I m not sure as to why you d need to do this. If your gluing the bamboo down, I m not sure if the wood glue is compatible w/ the Red guard as far as not reacting to each other and causing the glue not to stick.. If your nailing the flooring down then your not doing anything as far as water proofing or using it as a moisture barrier since your driving nails/staples thru it..And then you still should have a felt ot rosin paper under the wood to keep the sub flooring and bamboo from rubbing together. Although the Red Guard may act in this way. So at 40 $ a gallon and 120$ or so for a big bucket , I d question this practice. Plus to properly put it down you need 2 coats ..E mail me thru my avatar if you have any questions GL
